Chalkstring is unlike any other product on the market in terms of its breadth, functionality and support services. We see customers as our partners and continually invest in Chalkstring to ensure that our cost control software is the leading product in the market.
Chalkstring was the brainchild of Stuart Friend, our Product Director. While working as an Operations Manager in a specialist subcontractor business, he found that historical and manual processes hampered efficient working.
Business-critical information was stored in multiple, unconnected spreadsheets, making data hard to share. And sourcing up-to-date cost information on which to make informed project and business decisions was even harder.
Confident there was a better way to work, Stuart went to market to a find a software package. But, after reviewing the products on the market, he realised there was nothing that met the business’ needs. Given his strong knowledge of the construction industry, Stuart chose to specify and develop his own software to fix the business’ issues.
With the help of a team of developers, he developed Chalkstring and implemented the software in the business. Upon seeing how effective Chalkstring was at controlling project costs, Stuart sought a management team to help him form a business and take Chalkstring to the construction market.
The management team that exists today has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to developing construction software and taking it to market. Our team comprises over 100 years’ experience of delivering pioneering software and services to the global construction market, and, with our growing user base, our ambition is to make Chalkstring the single, desired solution for managing all financial and operational aspects of construction projects.
