Meet Priya Deo.
We’ve asked Priya, our Training Manager, to share all about her role at Chalkstring and why she has a love for Columbo.
What does your average day look like?
My average day revolves around living and breathing all things training. This could involve training check in calls with my lovely clients, facilitating & delivering live training, developing and improving training resources, and researching ways of making our training experience even more enjoyable and valuable for our clients.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I love the interaction I have with clients. I always say that it is the client that makes a training session fun and interesting and I have definitely met some fun and interesting people. The best and most satisfying part of my role is when clients have their ‘aha’ moments and understand how the system will improve their current processes.
Previous role / experience
Since school, I always wanted to be a teacher and once I graduated with a Business Information Systems degree, I decided that I wanted a job where I would have interaction with people and not just a computer so became a software trainer.
My first role was as a Microsoft Office trainer at a time when it wasn’t being taught in primary schools. I decided to further my skills by completing a PGCE in Secondary education, but my love for professional training prevailed and I ventured into bespoke software training and consultancy. I’ve now been in the world of construction software for over 5 years.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Fun, hard-working and passionate.
Who is your icon and why?
Anyone who knows me will know who I am going to say… Columbo (yes, the detective on TV) /Peter Falk. I love everything about him, but mainly the fact that people initially judge him by his looks but, by the end, they have complete respect for him!
I had 3 ‘weddings’ in 3 different continents (to the same man!).
